Tennessee's state House took the first steps today toward restoring common-sense policies on abortion with sub-committee passage of measures providing informed consent and a 48-hour waiting period before an abortion may be performed as well as a requirement that abortion facilities be inspected and licensed as other out-patient surgical centers.
By voice vote, members of the House Health sub-committee overwhelmingly approved passage of HB 977 (informed consent / waiting period) by Representatives Matthew Hill and Debra Moody and HB 1368 (abortion facility regulation) by Susan Lynn.
Pro-abortion supporters of Planned Parenthood were out in force and pro-life advocates are encouraged to consider attending a key committee meeting next Wednesday, April 1. Both bills will be heard in the full House Health Committee, 1:30 p.m. in Room 16.
Thank you for your support to protect women, girls and unborn children in Tennessee!
