National Right to Life Praises President Trump’s Executive Order Protecting the Right to Life of Newborns Regardless of the Circumstances of Their Birth

WASHINGTON — President Trump today took executive action to protect newborn babies, babies born with disabilities, and babies born alive following an abortion.

“President Trump’s executive order protects the youngest of patients and ensures that their right to life is defended to the greatest extent of the law,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.

In the President’s remarks at today’s National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, President Trump announced “The Born Alive Executive Order” that would ensure the right to life to all newborns regardless of the circumstances of their birth.

President Trump said,

We believe in … the eternal truth that every child, born and unborn, is made in the Holy image of God ... I will always defend the sacred right to life. Today, I am announcing that I will be signing the Born Alive Executive Order to ensure that all precious babies born alive, no matter their circumstances, receive the medical care that they deserve. This is our sacrosanct moral duty.

The executive order enforces and expands protections for babies who are born prematurely, born following an abortion, or born with disabilities.

“We thank President Trump for his dedication to the right to life and for working to protect all innocent human life,” said Tobias. “He is a champion for the most vulnerable among us and committed to guarding the right to life of all babies—born and unborn.”
