Giving Tuesday + The Big Payback
Make your impact May 5-7 by participating in GivingTuesdayNow and The Big Payback!
For the first time ever, Giving Tuesday and The Big Payback are happening back-to-back, representing a major opportunity for Tennessee Right to Life and our supporters like you who are looking for ways to make a difference.
Here's where you funding goes:
Direct Support
Thanks to Diana and our staff for continuing to consult with women considering abortion and offering real solutions. We are thankful to be here for these women and fighting for them and their unborn babies. We are also thankful to the staff of the pregnancy centers that remain open and for the staff of mobile units that are still working hard to counsel and find resources.
Please pray for these women and men who are life lines for women and unborn children!
Education
We just completed our annual Pro-Life Oratory Contest for High School Students. With the shutdowns due to COVID-19, we had to be creative and, rather than meeting in person, students sent videos of themselves presenting an original 5-7 minute speech on abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research, or infanticide. We awarded over $2,500 in prize money to winning students in the county and state contests. Click here to listen to their speeches.
For the first time, we have provided our Pro-Life Homeschool Curriculum, created by our Knox County chapter, online. These Life Lessons were developed to be used in a Sunday School Class setting for two weeks but can easily be adapted to use while homeschooling students. Each grade has 2 lessons, with a Perspective for the Teacher, Scripture references, Lesson Goals, and a worksheet.
Our Knox County chapter also, began their annual Mother's Day Billboard campaign in the Knoxville area with your support and with support of area pro-life churches and outreaches. There will be more than 25 billboards on display between April through June.
Legislation
Tennessee Right to Life continued to work to ensure that abortion facilities were specifically included in Gov. Lee's Executive Orders relating to elective surgical procedures. Our Legislative Liaison's efforts drew media attention from the Associated Press.
In an email from Will Brewer, highlighted in media reports, "We’re getting a lot of frustrated calls from supporters and legislators asking why Governor Lee has not yet suspended elective abortions when he has suspended so many other elective procedures? I think such a mandate would have an even greater effect on saving lives and would garner greater support from the Governor’s base than even his omnibus bill, which is at risk of not even getting passed this year should this crisis be prolonged.” https://apnews.com/2c5fb70c9f6946f64b7b68ed020460a8
Tennessee's pro-life leadership is serving as a model for other states as pro-life leaders and legislators seek to replicate our successes.
This has only been possible due to God's blessing and your faithful help and financial support.
Together we are truly building a culture of Life in Tennessee and beyond.
On Giving Tuesday Now and The Big Payback days, you can help us to continue our work towards protecting Life in Tennessee.
