Happy Anniversary Pro-Life Tennessee!

Two years ago today Tennesseans passed pro-life Amendment 1 by a vote of 53% - 47%.  As a result, Tennessee legislators restored key protections for women, girls and unborn children and Tennessee is no longer an abortion destination.  Of course, Planned Parenthood and other abortion organizationswasted no time in filing suit against the state claiming the manner of counting votes violated the rights of pro-abortion voters. In April, Federal District Judge Kevin Sharp agreed with Planned Parenthood and ordered a recount of the ballots in order to throw out the amendment.  His wrong ruling is on hold pending an appeal to the 6th circuit court of appeals in Cincinnati.  Thank you to the thousands of pro-life Tennesseans who signed on to the Friend of the Court brief recently filed by the Yes on 1 Ballot Committee and Tennessee Right to Life. Together we are insuring that every voice and vote are defended in order to protect the lives of vulnerable unborn children and their mothers in Tennessee.  Your financial support now will help to defray the ongoing costs of leading the fight for life in our communities, state and nation. Early Voting Begins Today in TN

Today marks the beginning of early voting in Tennessee and pro-life state legislators need your vote! During the past two years, the Tennessee General Assembly has passed landmark legislation restoring previously-stricken policies including informed consent for women and girls considering an abortion, a 48-hour waiting period, and a requirement that abortion facilities be licensed as other ambulatory surgical treatment centers. In addition, the Legislature passed a key proposal to prevent abortion facilities from marketing and profiting from the sale of remains of unborn children killed by abortion. Continue reading

Yes on 1 Ballot Committee Files Friend-of-the-Court Brief

Advocates Urge 6th Circuit to Protect Voting Rights of Pro-Life Tennesseans On Friday morning, supporters of the 2014 Amendment dealing with abortion regulation in Tennessee filed a Friend-of-the-Court brief as the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals prepares to consider arguments as to whether the votes of some pro-life Tennesseans may be thrown out. 8,850 Tennessee voters joined their names to the brief on behalf of the Yes on 1 campaign arguing that the campaign has a direct interest not only in supporting Amendment 1's ratification, but also in ensuring that the constitutional right to vote guaranteed to each Tennessean is fully protected. Protect Tennessee's Pro-Life Amendment 1

Planned Parenthood is attempting to THROW OUT YOUR VOTE on Amendment 1 and return Tennessee to an unregulated abortion destination.  Earlier this year, Federal District Judge Kevin Sharp agreed with Planned Parenthood's demands and ordered the state to begin preparing for a recount of the 2014 ballots in order to throw out any in which a vote was cast on Amendment 1 but not in the Governor's race. Amendment 1 passed through the legislative branch after a decade of work and was approved with 53% of the vote despite millions spent in opposition by Planned Parenthood abortion facilities around the nation. Help Tennessee Right to Life stand for the protection of life and the people's vote by signing the Friend of the Court brief being submitted to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Monday, October 10 is the final deadline for being included on this historic document signifying support for the constitutional manner in which the votes were counted by the state on Amendment 1.  Sign here:  www.protectthepeoplesvote.org   Continue reading

The Face of Pro-Choice Tennessee

Memphis Man Arrested for Attacking Pregnant Girlfriend After She Refuses Abortion Too often this is what "freedom of choice" looks like in the United States. Thankfully Tennessee lawmakers have taken steps in recent years to strengthen protections for women being forced into unwanted abortions. In 2011, legislators strengthened the Unborn Victims of Violence statute so that an unborn child at any gestational age who is assaulted or killed in a criminal act may be considered a second victim for purposes of prosecution (sponsored by Sen. Mae Beavers and former Rep. Joshua Evans.) In 2010, legislation by Senator Jack Johnson and Rep. Susan Lynn was passed requiring the posting of the state's anti-coercion law on the walls of abortion facility waiting rooms and counseling rooms. Continue reading

3 Things Pro-Life Tennesseans Can Do

Protect the People's Vote Tennessee Right to Life is working to protect the votes of pro-life Tennesseans who voted YES on 1 in 2014. Federal Judge Kevin Sharp has sided with Planned Parenthood and demanded a recount of the ballots in order to throw out the votes of any who voted on the Amendment but not in the governor's race.  The case is now on appeal to the U.S. Sixth Circuit and you can make a difference! Show your support for Amendment 1 by adding your name alongside thousands of others to the Friend of the Court brief at www.protectthepeoplesvote.org   This brief will be filed at the Sixth Circuit and supports the state's manner of counting and ratifying the votes on Amendment 1.  Your signature will demonstrate opposition to activist judges who attempt to overturn the clearly expressed will of the people. Please take a moment to review the brief and then add your name in order to Protect the People's Vote on Amendment 1.   Continue reading
